VSC completes transition to new SOLVO.TOS operating system
Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company (“VSC”) and ROLIS (both Global Ports Group companies) have now completed the test period and stabilisation process of its new terminal operating system (TOS). All operational document flow processes that correspond to handling operations at the terminal in the port of Vostochny are now registered on the new system, reaching full capacity.
Ilia Dolgiy, Managing Director of VSC, noted:
“This year, VSC has significantly upgraded its IT architecture. This was a necessary and important step amidst the ongoing rapid growth of freight traffic in the Far East and naturally required a transition period to manage any debugging. Now, I’m pleased to say that based on the results of the launch, both we and our customers have seen a clear increase in the transparency and manageability of clearance processes and the efficiency of cargo handling. Operational efficiency remains a key priority for us, and we are determined to further increase productivity in order to be able to adapt appropriately as the market develops”.
The use of this new state-of-the-art information system by VSC's operations departments and clients has successfully increased the efficiency of terminal resource management. The new TOS enables real-time tracking of all ship handling and container movement procedures at the terminal as well as key procedures including operational accounting and control of warehouse operations, planning and operational control of container loading-unloading at the railway front, the planning of the arrival and handling of vehicles, and the control and accounting of containers during customs clearance.
The new TOS was launched at VSC in September 2021. This new IT architecture is based on the latest version of the Solvo.TOS operating system, which is the core system supporting the main operational processes of the terminal, and a refined version of the Konterra system (developed by ROLIS and introduced previously during the first stage of the terminal's digital transformation). Konterra is the main component behind Global Ports' single customer portal, providing customers with access to the terminal's online services, and is responsible for the electronic exchange of data with systems of Russian Railways, customs, and tax authorities. This proprietary Global Ports portal enables VSC clients to submit cargo and vehicle processing requests, receive real-time container event alerts, and remotely execute documents electronically using an electronic signature.
Global Ports is a leader in digitalisation among Russian ports. As a result of the development of its information services capability, the total volume of electronic cargo documents at the Group's terminals has reached 80%.
