Petrolesport handles its 500 thousandth TEU
Petrolesport (a Global Ports group company) handled 500,000 TEUs year to date. Last year the same result was achieved only in early December. In 2010 the terminal handled the total of 541,120 TEUs.
According to the Marketing Director of Petrolesport, Alexander Svetlichniy, the terminal improved its last year's results due to implementation of the development program the purpose of which was, among other things, to improve the quality of service. It resulted in more container shipping lines calling at Petrolesport. In particular, in 2011 MSC and OOCL ocean lines resumed their service to the terminal. A regular railway link to LLC Logistics Park Yanino became another driver of the increased Petrolesport's container turnover.
Petrolesport is being developed on the basis of the concept that the company developed jointly with Hamburg Port Consulting. The development program of the container terminal includes expansion of its capacity to 2.3 mln TEUs (currently standing at 1 mln TEUs). In 2011-2012 over $160 mln will be spent under the Petrolesport's investment program.
