Atmosphere Foundation Plants Young Shrubs in Wrangel
Foundation for Support of Public Initiatives Atmosphere, a foundation established by Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company, a Global Ports company (“Foundation”), financed planting of young flowering shrubs in the Environmental Park in the Wrangel micro-district. The planting costs amounted to 400,000 Roubles.
The total of around 400 plants were planted. In selecting the plants preference was given to low-maintenance rapid growers which are resistant to coastal climate – nine-bark, prim, Japanese spirea, forsythia and sumac. These shrubs are most commonly used to create green spaces in urban beautification.
“Nakhodka has always been famous for its abundant greenery within the city, and we consider it our duty to help maintaining its “green” status. Greening creates a landscape of the micro-district, improves its appearance, helps to keep the air clean and fresh,” – noted Alexey Pavlenko, Director of Atmosphere Foundation and Managing Director of Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company.
The Environmental Park was opened in November 2019. Its construction became the first project of the Foundation which was established in 2019 to implement initiatives intended to improve the quality of life of the community within the Nakhodka urban district and Wrangel micro-district. The Foundation arranged for improvement of an empty site in the Wrangel micro-district located at the intersection of the Babkin Street and Primorye Avenue. The construction project on a 5,112 square meter site resulted in creation of a recreation zone for the village residents, with lighted walking and bicycle lanes, a playground and a sports ground. Additional planting is expected to make the park even more comfortable and pleasant for visitors.
