VSC Terminal Opens Customs Warehouse for Temporary Storage of Customs-Free and Duty-Free Goods
Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company (“VSC”, a Global Ports group company), has opened a customs warehouse1 at which customers will be able to store import and exports goods for up to three years without paying customs duties. The customs warehouse will also become a mandatory goods marking zone2.
VSC’s customs warehouse includes both an open and covered yard with storage spaces, weighing equipment, a workstation with telecommunications equipment and other necessary facilities. The usable area of the open yard is 175 sq. m, and the usable volume of the covered warehouse is 1,239 cu. m. The customs warehouse has equipment to allow for the customs control procedure to be undertaken in its premises, and also guarantees the safekeeping of the goods and ensures no unauthorised access to the yard.
“We are constantly working to improve customer services and the opening of the customs warehouse is yet another step towards meet the preferences and needs of our customers. We expect that this addition will help the customers engaged in foreign economic activity to reduce their costs, as they will not be required to move their goods to customs warehouse yards outside of VSC, and will be more so in demand in the context of an expanded list of goods requiring mandatory marking”, – noted VSC’s Managing Director Alexey Pavlenko.
VSC provides a full range of stevedoring and forwarding services, including services of a state-of-the-art container freight station (CFS). The terminal handles import, export, coastal and transit containers. The terminal forms accelerated container trains bound to Moscow, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Saint Petersburg as well as CIS and European countries and China.
