New Container Line Opened at VSC Terminal
A new maritime container line, APL Eastern Russia Express, between the port of Pusan (South Korea) and Vostochny Port has opened at the Far East’s leading container terminal Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company LLC (part of Global Ports Investments Plc). APL is the first among world ocean carriers to set up independent service in Russia’s Far East.
On Tuesday, January 27, the first ship of the new line, the APL Hibiscus, with a capacity of 453 TEU arrived at the terminal for service. Ships will arrive at the VSC terminal on a weekly basis.
The following shipping lines are now operating at the VSC LLC container terminal: FESCO Container Services Co. Ltd; Sinokor Merchant Marine Co. Ltd; CK Line Co. Ltd; Korea Marine Transport Company; Pan Continental Shipping Ltd; and FESCO Lines Vladivostok.
According to VSC general director John Scourtis, the arrival of one of the world’s leading operators on the Far Eastern container market is an important event both for VSC and for the regional market overall. "Seeing its long-term prospects, our partners from Asia-Pacific countries that deliver containers from Asia to Europe over the Trans Siberian Railway are very interested in the long-term use of this transport corridor,” noted Mr. Scourtis.
