Corporate History
The history of Global Ports began in 1996 with the establishment of Severstaltrans ZAO, a transportation company that primarily serviced the transportation needs of the Severstal Group, one of Russia’s largest steel and mining conglomerates.
During the following 12 years Severstaltrans ZAO and its companies developed and grew rapidly as a result of both organic growth and numerous strategic acquisitions. In 2008, the company was renamed the N-Trans Group.
Port assets of N-Trans acquired and developed since 2004 were consolidated into Global Ports Investments PLC in 2008.
Railway assets of N-Trans were consolidated into Globaltrans, a leading private freight rail transportation group operating in Russia, the CIS countries and the Baltics. In 2008 Globaltrans Investment PLC listed its GDRs on the London Stock Exchange. For further information, please see www.globaltrans.com.
